Xerox WorkCentres have a feature called ‘Scan to E-mail’ which can be used to send emails. The feature works great as long as you have an SMTP server that can either authenticate using what is known as ‘POP before SMTP authentication’, or can authenticate based on the ‘From’ email address that is used.
SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that authenticates based on the ‘From’ email address used, and can therefore be used with Xerox WorkCentres. Gmail’s SMTP server normally doesn’t work, as it requires that SSL is used.
Some example Xerox WorkCentre models that work with SMTP2Go are M118i, M24, M20, M20i, 4150 and 7132. All WorkCentre models will work with SMTP2Go.
SMTP2Go is available by clicking here.
Please note: some Xerox WorkCentres may still have a problem sending – if this is the case, use the IP address of 207.58.142.213 instead of smtp2go.com as the SMTP server.

Many devices have a need to send emails through an SMTP server. The problem that many people face is that a large number of these devices do not have any place in their settings to enter an SMTP username or password — otherwise known as SMTP authentication. In order to get these devices to work, you need an SMTP that can work with no authentication.
SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that doesn’t require authentication, and can thus be used by these devices (routers, webcams, faxes, printers, security devices, storage devices etc.) The Linksys NAS200 (pictured) is an example of a device that needs an SMTP server that doesn’t require authentication. Please note that Gmail’s SMTP server cannot be used in these situations, as it requires that a username and password be used.

Some Sharp fax machines require a certain type of SMTP server in order to be able to send emails. SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that authenticates senders based on their ‘from’ email address, meaning that it works with fax machines that are unable to send an SMTP username or password.
Two examples of SMTP setup procedures for popular Sharp fax machines are below:
Sharp UX-B800SE and UX-D1200SE Broadband Fax SMTP setup
In the ‘Network Settings’ area, enter smtp2go.com as the SMTP server, and UNCHECK the box ‘POP before SMTP’. Try entering either port 2525, 25, or 587 as the outgoing SMTP port. Then, make sure you are sending ‘from’ an email address that is registered with SMTP2Go.
See a sample screenshot from the UX-B800SE fax below (click on it to enlarge):

Please note that Gmail’s SMTP server doesn’t work, as it not only requires a username/password, but it also requires that SSL/TLS is used.
Please note: some fax machines may still have a problem sending – if this is the case, use the IP address of 207.58.142.213 instead of smtp2go.com as the SMTP server.

Recently Gmail has provided a new feature which allows their users to get around a problem which has been complained about for years .
The old problem was this: if you wanted to send emails from an email address that is not your Gmail email address, you had to accept the fact that many email clients would display the email as coming from “username@gmail.com On Behalf Of mycustomaddress@mydomain.com“.
To get around this problem, Gmail now lets you choose to send through a custom SMTP server. SMTP2Go’s SMTP server is an example of one that will work in this situation. You can use smtp2go.com as the custom SMTP server, choose to use either port 25 or 587 in the port dropdown box, and then enter your full billing email address as the username, and your password as the password.
To switch to this new method, go to the Accounts page under Settings, and click “edit info” next to the email address that you want to send from (in the “Send mail as” section). If you haven’t yet added this email address, click the “Send mail from another address button” and add it. Then choose the option to “Use your other email provider’s SMTP servers.”
This post explains the situation in more detail:

See the screenshot below which shows sample SMTP2Go settings which would work:

Note that if you are adding multiple different email addresses, you should still use your billing email address as the username in each case.
