An SMTP server for Airlink101 Network Cameras

Airlink101 network cameras require a non-SSL SMTP server in order to send emails.

SMTP2Go’s SMTP server will work with these devices, as the SMTP2Go service can work with or without SSL enabled.

You can test the service with a free trial. Please note that you should try setting the Port Number to each of the following (until you are able to send emails): 2525, 587, 8025, 25.

Hard/soft weekly bounce reporting for Corporate service

SMTP2Go Corporate’s improved weekly bounce reporting service has recently been enabled.

The new weekly reports include only true, hard bounces. A hard bounce is an email address that has proven to be undeliverable, and will never accept email in the future.

The only truly accurate method of determing whether a bounce is hard or soft is to analyse the bounce message for positive/negative keyword phrases.

So… how do we do it?

When an email bounces, we scan the bounce-back message against hundreds of specific known soft bounce keyword phrases, such as ‘Mailbox is full’, ‘SPF check failed’, and ‘We do not accept junk mail’.
If a bounce’s message includes any of our soft bounce keyword phrases, it is classified as soft.

If the bounce hasn’t already been classified as soft, we then scan the message against hundreds of specific known hard bounce keyword phrases, such as ‘Invalid email recipient’ or ‘The account does not exist’.
If a bounce’s message includes any of our hard bounce keyword phrases (and wasn’t already classified as soft), it is classified as hard.

Our classification system has a very high level of accuracy, and we’re sure it will be of use to anyone using SMTP2Go Corporate to send to mailing lists.

Emails stuck in your Outbox and won’t send?

Motorola Droid X SMTP Setup for Sending Emails

Motorola Droid X devices require that an SMTP username and SMTP password is used when sending emails. This appears to be a change from the previous Droid’s software.

To setup email on a Droid X, you need an SMTP server that can accept an SMTP username/password. The setup instructions below show how to use SMTP2Go, which has a free SMTP server that can be used.

If you haven’t already, get a free SMTP2Go account
Select Outgoing Server
Enter SMTP server: smtp2go.com
Deactivate check on both Use Secure connection and Verify Certificate
Enter Port: 2525
Enter your SMTP2Go BILLING email address into Username (the complete email address)
Enter your SMTP2Go password into Password
Tap on OK

Please note: if you are still unable to send, please try using SMTP port 25, 8025 or 587.

Verizon Droid X users may benefit from using SMTP server port80.smtp2go.com and SMTP port 80.

An SMTP Server for T-Mobile Users

We have recently discovered that T-Mobile has changed its policy regarding SMTP servers (as of May 1st, 2010) and now requires that SMTP authentication be used.

What does this mean? It means that you must enter an SMTP username and an SMTP password in your email settings if you want to be able to send emails through T-Mobile.

SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that works with T-Mobile, as it can be used with or without authentication.
New users should signup for an SMTP2Go account, and then follow the advice below.

To use SMTP2Go with T-Mobile you will need to turn SMTP authentication on, and then enter your *billing* email address as the SMTP username, and your SMTP2Go ‘My Account’ password as the SMTP password.

FileMaker Pro SMTP Server Setup

Filemaker Pro has the option of using an Outgoing SMTP Server. We’ve recently been contacted by one of our members who has successfully used SMTP2Go with Filemaker Pro.
Setup for Filemaker Pro is slightly different, in that it requires that you enter your SMTP2Go billing email address into the User Name field and your SMTP2Go password into the Password field.

Please view the image below to see an example of how the SMTP settings screen should appear. Obviously, you should replace the email address with your own.

We’ve had some reports that the Name field needs to be blank, due to a bug with the SMTP module in some versions of FileMaker Pro.

An SMTP Server For HP CM2320 Multifunction Printers

The CM2320 range of HP multifunction printers (CM2320fxi, CM2320nf) have the ability to send emails. They do, however, have one major limitation: they are unable to use SMTP authentication. In order to send emails from one of these printers, you will need an SMTP server that does not require authentication.

An SMTP Server for Virgin Mobile Broadband (Broadband2Go)

We have recently been contacted by a Virgin Mobile Broadband user who has advised us that they do not provide an SMTP server for use by their customers for sending emails. This user has fixed their problem by switching to using SMTP2Go as their SMTP server while connected to the Internet through their Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go service.

As SMTP2Go is a worldwide SMTP service, it works from any location in the world where coverage is available. Setup is once-off, generally takes less than 2 minutes, and involves changing your SMTP server setting to smtp2go.com and SMTP port setting to 2525.

iPhone SMTP Server Setup

The iPhone requires that a valid SMTP server be entered into its settings in order to send emails. SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that can be used with iPhones from any location in the world. As long as your iPhone has access to the Internet, you’ll be able to send emails with SMTP2Go.

Setup instructions for the iPhone are below:

Step 1: Signup for an SMTP2Go account.

Step 2: Setup your iPhone following the instructions below:

Select ‘Settings’ from the main screen in your iPhone:

Select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ from the Settings screen:

Click on the name of the account you wish to change. The account in this example is called ‘My account’:

Click on the name of your current SMTP server.

Important: do *not* change your Incoming Mail Server settings.

Enter smtp2go.com into the Host Name field. Make sure that the settings User Name and Password are blank, and that Use SSL is set to OFF.

Set the Server Port to 2525. You can also try using Server Port 25, 8025 or 587.

You will also need to make sure that you are sending from an email address that you have registered with SMTP2Go.
